Robert Berry – The Long Walk 2021 Faro de Maspalomas – Gáldar, coast to coast over the highest peak on Gran Canaria… #WeCrossMountains
Help Robert support Women & Families, Fighters & Survivors on Gran Canaria.
Cheerleaders, supporters and sponsors wanted, to help get Robert over the Gran Canaria mountain!
The Gentlemanly Mister Robert Berry has been living on the south of the island for more than a decade. Originally from the UK, and the north at that, he has made his life here in the beautiful tourist heartlands of Gran Canaria.
A couple of years back a made a decision to seriously change his life, and his body shape, giving up booze for 9 months, really changing his eating habits and starting to walk all around his local area. He managed to lose more than 30kg, and is not only now an avid walker who can be seen frequently on his morning strolls, of 20km and upwards, all around Playa del Inglés and nearby areas.
Robert, and his partner Ed, might not describe him as a rugged go-getter, dashing though he may be, but he has proven himself repeatedly on training walks to be extremely capable, and we think he will be an asset to our mission, and with a little help from you, we believe there is no reason that he will not be able to complete our challenge, 70km, 3 days, 2,000m up and 2,000m down, coast-to-coast over the highest summit, to complete his first crossing of Gran Canaria.
“My name is Robert, i am 60 years young. I live in Playa del Inglés.
This will be my first attempt of The Long Walk, I do like to walk most days. But The Long Walk I see as probably my biggest challenge.
This has been a challenging time for a lot of people, either through Illness or other circumstances affecting their lives; so i felt I really wanted to help and raise funds for various local charities, in a way which I really enjoy.
I am looking forward to meeting like minded people on The Long Walk.”
