Every donation here helps us to Help The Helpers feed a local family in real need.
The Food Project receives no local town hall or municipal assistance, and so rent their community facility privately.
They are supported by locals and foreign residents, island institutions and NGOs led by FESBAL and The Food Bank of Las Palmas, they only survive thanks to your generosity, participation and charitable donations.
The project is volunteer-led and they are a vital life line for well over 300 individuals weekly (over 100 families), doing much more than just feeding empty bellies:
The Project acts as a vital community hub coordinating donations of food and clothing, shoes, furniture, even donated mobility scooters.
They employ, thanks to institutional grants and your help, a qualified social worker who helps to guide each individual through their life project… and so much more besides… here is a little window on to where your donations are used…
10€ contributes to their gaining access to a social worker to help find work, training, education and extra help
30€ supplements a family of 3 for a week with fresh produce
50€ helps buy shoes and clothing for kids going Back To School
100€ is enough to organise a computer for families without access to technology, or pay transport costs for moving furniture, and a range of other much needed assistance all provided by The Food Project, with your support.
500€ buys milk, potatoes, juices and fresh vegetables for one week to supplement the rice and pasta etc provided by The Food Bank in Las Palmas
1000€ helps pay a part time social worker to directly assist individuals and families who have no access to legal advice or ways to escape extreme poverty.
2000€ pays the building rent for one month
....not to mention all the utility bills... the electricity required to run climate controlled rooms so as to meet food safety standards is a standing cost that cannot be avoided.
We want to try and assist in covering as much of that as we can by demonstrating that #WeCrossMountains when we work together

June 5, 6 & 7 is the main Spring food drive weekend
🍎 Operación Kilo - Food Drive 🛒
We need kind hearted, energetic, happy go lucky, friendly and generous volunteers 💛 to help us staff the collection boxes 📦 that will be available in participating stores throughout Mogán, the south and acrossthe entire island. 🌴
Could you spare a few hours ⏰ to simply greet shoppers 😊 and inform them about the food drive?
All shoppers are asked to do is buy some extra items 🥫🍝🥕 in their shopping baskets and leave it in the boxes provided. Easy! 🙌
The key thing is to be friendly 🤗 and helpful and engage the public with the effort. ❤️
We run in 4 hour shifts 📅 throughout the campaign weekend.
We need morning, midday and afternoon/evening shift volunteers.
