The Long Walk Route
The Long Walk Challenge - Day 1
This year we plan to walk out from the wild west coast of Gran Canaria. Starting in La Aldea de San Nicolas, and inland from the ancient Anden Verde, we will be climbing the old paths towards the reservoirs and summits. From there we head in to the heart of the Sacred Mountains and The Cumbres, to the famous Cruz de Tejeda for a sunset which over looks a prehistoric landscape, the Caldera de Tejeda, and our neighbouring giant Teide. 31km in one epic and memorable day.
A Stroll Through The Clouds - Day 2
Day two will be a stroll among the clouds, climbing up to the highest point on Gran Canaria, crossing the island at Pico de Las Nieves for our traditional toast to the Goddesses of these legendary peaks; before descending through hillside pine forests with plenty of opportunities to take in the magnificent wild scenery as we head to the pre-hispanic and agricultural heartlands of the east, the sacred spaces of the Canario peoples, and the ancient cave-dwellings of Guayadeque. 20km
Descent To The East - Day 3
The third day we'll wander down to the sea, through the colonial sugar producing town of Ingenio, to the pirate coasts of the windy east, and Playa de El Burrero for a photo of everyone who has made it there and supported our journey. 16km
